Event Branding Development

Women Build

Women Build is an annual event facilitated by Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region. This annual event empowers women of all backgrounds and skill levels to come together, roll up their sleeves, and contribute to building safe, affordable homes for local families in need. In 2023, Women Build was sponsored by Benefit Cosmetics. New event branding was required, which combined the Habitat for Humanity and Benefit Cosmetics branding

The Concept

The event needed an updated logo design that followed existing brand guidelines and iconography restrictions. The colours also needed to reflect the event and the event sponsor, Benefit Cosmetics. 

The logo concept was inspired by the Professional Women's Hockey League, which removes gender stereotypes from the logo and simply incorporates hockey sticks with PWHL. The women build logo is playful, in how the imagery interacts with the typography. It is also literal, demonstrating the work that will be done at the event. 

The Process

The Benefit Cosmetics Brand Colours inspired the palette for the logo colours and the event branding. Habitat for Humanity icons and imagery were applied to various branding elements, for example the standard hammer icon was extracted, modified, and used in the logo design. 

The deliverables for this process included:

  • Logo Package

  • T-shirt design

  • Event Signs

  • Helmet Stickers

  • Social Media graphics

Results

2023 Women Build was a big success. The T-shirts and helmet stickers helped unify the volunteers, while the site signage worked to direct them. Event slots quickly filled up in response to marketing assets.
